The responsibilities of the Accounting Supervisor among others will include:

Coordinate the correct maintenance of chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and over the classification and booking of all transactions based on IFRS and ELP

Coordinate effectively the monthly financial closing process, including ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.

Analyse the effect of statutory accounting practives and guidance to ensure accounting compliance and the correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting principles (GAAP), local regulations (ELP) and group guidelines (GAM). 

Ensure compliance with internal audit policies. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.

Supervise shared services functions and maintain a smooth and effective operation of outsourced activities.

Analyse accounting systems, identify any inaccuracies (preventing), proceed with correction actions/remediation plans, problem solving, constantly seek for efficiencies and recommend improvement measures in collaboration with the different departments in the organisation.

Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures including the review and implementation of process and system changes. Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices & Lead accounting projects, investigate feasibility, accounting implications, evaluate impact & potential risk and propose ideal way of implementation of new flows and schemes in order to achieve the best results for all stakeholders (internal & external). 

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • BA in Accounting or similar field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in a similar role.
  • Background in either multinationals or mid-size companies will be preferred.
  • Computer literacy with Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Good working knowledge of the English language.
  • SAP experience is required (experience in Sales and Distribution and Finance modules is highly appreciated)

  • Strong organisation skills, ability to prioritise and co-ordinate tasks efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Advanced technical accounting skills; ability to research and understand technical details, but also interpret and present in lay terms to non-technical finance stakeholders and other business partners.
  • Analytical thinker who can identify and implement effective processes improvements.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to use their own initiative with minimal supervision and hold themselves to a high standard of quality and quantity of work.
  • Good sense of responsibility and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proactive thinking but also willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
  • Ambassador across the organization for best practices in Accounting in general.
