We have strong focus on technical skills and specialist in the industry focussed on commissioning. Due to out mostly warm climate, we have a bigger focus on cooling.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB 
The Service Technician is responsible for carrying out all service business and after sales support related work, such as diagnosing equipment and controls, general repairs, pre-commissioning inspections and commissioning, warranty inspections, maintenance, and compiling reports. Maintain the technical DSM app to ensure technical interventions are captured and completed effectively. This job reports to the Supervisor for Service Business in Johannesburg. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
•    Provide a safe working environment and ensure the safe operating condition of the equipment.
•    Provide 24-hour telephonic access for all customers that need assistance.
•    Carry out site inspection to evaluate and cost job.
•    To work with and supervise the service assistant/apprentice. 
•    Compile comprehensive written reports of findings with photos included. 
•    Generate new work on the contracted sites by suggesting possible improvement to the existing system. 
•    Carry out all commissioning requirements of VRV, Chillers, Rooftop and Refrigeration systems. 
•    Complete and communicate DSM job cards with service coordinators on a daily/weekly basis.
•    Work closely with the service coordinators to ensure optimal teamwork and service delivery.
•    Work closely with the spare parts controllers to ensure optimal teamwork and service delivery.
•    Maintain product knowledge by attending sales and technical training courses. 
•    Attend team building sessions as and when required. 
•    Travel locally or internationally as and when required.
•    Work overtime as and when required, delivering optimal service levels.
•    Be on standby

EXPERIENCE
•    Minimum of 7 years’ general HVAC experience  
•    Minimum of 3 years Chiller experience
•    Good knowledge of HVAC controls  
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills 
•    Good planning and organizational skills 
•    Good report writing skills
•    Good time management skills
•    Must be computer literate, level 1 in MS word, MS Excel, PowerPoint. Internet and E-mails.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION 
•    Grade 12 or N3 HVAC Diploma (Technical College)
•    National Trade certificate in HVAC&R
•    Safe handling of refrigerant certified, Cat B (SAQCC)
•    Safety 
•    First Aid level 1

LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability to read, analyze data, correspondence and memos. The ability to effectively present information, respond to questions from clients, customers and managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Calculate heat loads, understand the Psychometrics Chart, and good knowledge of HVAC controls. 

ACCOUNTABILITY
This position is directly accountable to the Regional Supervisor and the National Service Manager. You are directly responsible and accountable for your duties as a service Technician and how you perform those duties in line with organization’s principles and values.
