Our IT Center EMEA counts 3 departments: IT Planning (PLAN), IT Development (BUILD) and IT Infrastructure (RUN). Within our IT Development department, we can distinguish 2 competence centres: Madrid and Ostend. You will be part of IT Development in Madrid. The IT Development department in Madrid consists of 50 people (internal & external) and an offshore team. The group is young and dynamic with a good team spirit and open communication structure. We implement innovative IT solutions for our 7500+ Daikin colleagues all over Europe & Middle East.

As an IT E-Commerce Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the technical infrastructure behind our global e-commerce operations. This position offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams across regions to ensure the scalability, security, and optimization of our e-commerce platforms.

 

Which are the main functions/responsibilities of the role?

 

You as an IT E-Commerce Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Global E-Commerce Platform Administration:
    • Manage the operation and performance of our global e-commerce platforms (e.g., SAP Commerce Cloud).
    • Ensure uptime, stability, and scalability to support multiple markets and high-volume transactions.
    • Coordinate system upgrades, patches, and maintenance across regions, minimizing disruptions.
  • IT Systems Integration & Architecture:
    • Lead the integration of e-commerce platforms with enterprise IT systems such as SAP S4, and global payment gateways.
    • Build and maintain scalable APIs and data pipelines for seamless communication between systems.
    • Collaborate with different countries to adapt systems to local requirements while maintaining global consistency.
  • Project Management & Collaboration:
    • Drive global IT e-commerce projects, such as platform migrations, feature rollouts, and new market expansions.
    • Work with global and regional stakeholders, including marketing, logistics, and customer service teams, to align e-commerce IT strategies with business goals.
    • Prepare and maintain technical documentation for global IT operations and ensure knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay at the forefront of e-commerce IT trends, exploring opportunities in AI, machine learning, and automation to optimize global operations.
    • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities and user experience 

 

Which profile are we searching for? (education, background, specific knowledge required and experience)

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT roles within e-commerce, preferably in a multinational context.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in enterprise-grade e-commerce platforms (e.g., SAP Commerce Cloud,  Salesforce Commerce Cloud,…).
  • Understanding of integration capabilities between e-commerce platform and backend tooling.
  • Search configuration and indexing for e-commerce platform (Apache SOLR)
  • Familiarity with global payment systems (ingenico/netopia is a plus)
  • Monitoring tools for the understanding of the performance of the tool (Dynatrace)
  • Experience on ERP environment ( SAP S4 / ECC ) is a plus.
