Parts Reliability Engineer

Daikin Europe NV (DENV) is a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a Japanese outstanding company and worldwide the biggest developer, producer and supplier of HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) solutions, including heating pumps and cooling technology.
DENV is Daikin’s sales, R&D, and production headquarters for Europe, the Middle-East and Africa. The headquarter has Belgian offices in Brussels, Ghent and Ostend, as well as 8 production plants, 24 sales subsidiaries and offices and a whole network of independent distributors and dealers across the EMEA region.
Department/Section
Within our EMEA Development Centre, and more specific in the EMEA Advanced Solutions Department, the Parts Reliability Section is responsible for the design & quality judgment of parts that will be used in our new products. This validation is done by carefully setting up the required specifications and through evaluation and testing of prototypes. This in close cooperation with our unit design groups and part suppliers.
A big challenge, because our products and consequently their parts need detailed verification, in order to validate their performance and reliability towards the wide application and operation area.
Function
- Investigate best suited materials for our parts & units
- Closely cooperate with Unit Product Development to define part criteria (material, functional specs, lifetime specs, best matching quality vs cost balance, …)
- Closely cooperate with our main part suppliers. Setup the needed parts testing and critically evaluate the results.
- In case of issues, deeply analyze and determine root cause followed by formulating fitting countermeasures. (collaboration with external laboratories)
- Report to the Parts Reliability Manager and during the Development Review meetings.
Profile
- Master in material engineering or master in electro mechanics/mechanics
- A strong interest in material evaluation (composite materials, steel, stainless steel, …)
- You have a hands on mentality and like to evaluate the prototype in actual application (Genba).
- You are driven to achieve the objectives successfully.
- You have a critical mind set to validate parts, products & services (evaluate and when necessary find root cause of issue).
- You have the ability to react efficiently to occurring changes and problems (keep schedule without lowering the quality level).
- You are a team player and have an openness to cooperate within the entire organization.
- You have a very good knowledge of English
