Expert Embedded Software Test Engineer

Department:

The EMEA Electrics and Control department was created shortly after the establishment of the EMEA Development Center (EDC). It is one of the fastest-growing departments aimed at facilitating and ensuring the strong future growth of Daikin. The department is located in Gent, Technology Park, and plays a crucial role in developing embedded software & hardware as well as cloud and app development. This year we want to expend our 2nd office in Madrid. 

Role Overview:

As an Expert Embedded Software Test Engineer at Daikin Europe N.V., you will lead our embedded software testing efforts, utilizing your deep technical expertise and industry experience to drive continuous improvement in testing strategies and methodologies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of robust, high-quality embedded software solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of embedded software testing strategies, methodologies, and best practices.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for embedded software systems, ensuring thorough coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with the development team of the automated test framework to set requirements and direction of the automation platform. 
• Report defects to the development teams and where needed assist in the root cause analysis with them.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the embedded software testing team, fostering their growth and development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize testing requirements, and ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in embedded software testing, and proactively identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Requirements:

• Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software testing, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Automatic testing of embedded software. 
• Expertise in developing and executing test plans and test cases for embedded software systems, including experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software issues and identify effective solutions.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for learning and professional growth, with a commitment to staying current with industry trends and advancements.
• knowledge of: Jenkins, RobotFramework & git is a plus. 
• programming skills in languages commonly used for embedded software development (e.g., C/C++, Python) is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of embedded systems architectures, communication protocols, and hardware/software interfaces is a plus.
• Experience with embedded software development tools and debugging techniques (e.g., IDEs, JTAG debuggers) is a plus.
• experience with heating systems, heatpumps and controls of such systems is a plus.
