Application Engineer - DX & VRV

About the Role

The Application Engineer – DX & VRV plays a key role in delivering technically sound, optimized, and commercially competitive HVAC solutions across Daikin's sales organization. This role is responsible for equipment selection, system design validation, technical compliance, and application engineering support throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders, and ensure that proposed DX and VRV solutions meet customer requirements, local regulations, and Daikin engineering standards while contributing to successful project execution and business growth in Qatar.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Provide application engineering support to all Sales functions throughout the project lifecycle, from project inquiry to order confirmation.
• Design, size, and select DX, VRV and AHU equipment using Daikin selection software (VRV, AHU selection software, and other approved engineering tools).
• Review project specifications, tender documents, HVAC drawings, and schedules to develop compliant and optimized technical solutions.
• Validate equipment selections to ensure technical feasibility, energy efficiency, compliance with project requirements, and adherence to Daikin engineering standards.
• Prepare technical submittals, equipment schedules, selection reports, and engineering documentation to support project proposals.
• Provide value engineering recommendations and alternative solutions that improve technical performance and commercial competitiveness.
• Coordinate with Product Management, Sales, Factory Engineering, and other internal teams to resolve technical queries and ensure timely project support.
• Support quotation preparation by providing accurate technical selections, engineering calculations, and costing inputs.
• Participate in technical meetings with consultants, customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to present solutions, discuss design requirements, and address application-related questions.
• Stay current with HVAC technologies, local regulations, industry standards, and Daikin product developments to provide best-in-class application support.
• Ensure smooth technical handover to the execution team following order confirmation.

What You Need to Succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC Application Engineering, Technical Support, or HVAC System Design, with strong expertise in DX and VRV systems, preferably within the Qatar or GCC market.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, equipment selection, psychometrics, heat load calculations, and energy-efficient system applications.
• Hands-on experience using HVAC selection and design software, including VRV, AutoCAD, AHU selection software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of MEP drawings, HVAC design standards, tender specifications, and consultant requirements.
• Proven experience providing technical support across multiple sales channels, including equipment selection, solution optimization, value engineering, and technical proposal development.
• Ability to analyze project requirements, identify technical risks, and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to build effective relationships with consultants, contractors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English. Arabic language skills are an advantage.
• Knowledge of international HVAC standards (ASHRAE and AHRI) and familiarity with the Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and other applicable local regulations will be an advantage.
